About the department
The Department of Electronics & Communication was established in the year 2007 to start a 4-year B.E. degree programme affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU). The first batch of students graduated from the Department in the year 2010.
The focus of the B.E. degree programme is on ‘Electronics & Communications’. The curriculum is so designed as to give adequate emphasis on the digital processing of information for efficient communication over noisy channels and basics of electronics like Field Theory, Signals & Systems, Analog & Digital Circuits. In tune with the above objective, the syllabus features core courses like Analog & Digital Communication, DSP Architectures and Systems, Communication Switching Systems, Computer Networks, Communication Electronic Circuits, Microwave Components and Circuits, Satellite Communication, giving a balanced coverage of the theory and practice of modern Communication Engineering. The core programme is supplemented and further reinforced by a well-chosen set of elective courses permitting the students to specialize either in the software or the hardware aspect of Communication Systems.
The department has currently have an intake of 120 students. The dedicated staff not only guides the student community in achieving academic excellence but also to cultivate integrity, intellectual and moral courage, responsibility, fairness, and compassion for working together as a team.
Objectives
To impart up to date technical knowledge and skills and produce well-qualified engineers in areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering, who will make a qualitative difference in this field.
To inculcate the professional responsibilities to play a leadership role along with their diverse career paths and develop the capability to utilize engineering skills in the industry.
To address the social and cultural breadth demanded of them in the modern society.
Placement Facts
The excellent placement record which has been consistently above 95 % of the Eligible Students for the last few years, alone of our students is ample testimony to the emphasis that has been placed on the industrial needs of our country in the curriculum which is being updated continuously with a rise to incorporating the fast-changing technological trends in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering
The department has a close interaction with the alumni and is continuously using their inputs for improvement of the curriculum and research facilities.
